Social Heroes.

REMARKability is providing a 10 week social skills and peer support group for young people in grades 2 to grade 4.  The group will run from week 1 of term, through to week 10.

This group will focus on both explicit and implicit learning of the hidden rules of the social world! We have designed a program that will incorporate role-playing, hands-on activities, and real-world practice to help learn skills in a fun and supportive environment.  Learning these skills in naturalistic conditions increases the likelihood of the transfer-ability of these skills.

The program’s group focus will include:

  1. Understanding emotions – identifying feelings as well as effectively understanding body language, facial expressions, tone of voice and the impact of these on our interactions with others.

  2. Managing emotions

  3. Following the group plan

  4. Developing and practicing affective play skills including– turn taking, waiting turns, winning and losing, whole body listening, compromising, conflict resolution

  5. Joining in games – how to enter play

10 x 90 minute sessions + 1 parent session, pre- and post- assessments, booklet, and homework resources are all included in the weekly price
